ON FINDING MEANING & PEACE
The old man's eyes wavered with uncertainty and exhaustion. Years upon years of joy and sorrow, pride and guilt lay heavy upon those eyelids.
From outside his window, he heard the trickle of water. Birds flew towards the sunset, in search of their nests. The rich damp soil next to the water filled his nostrils with the scent he had been searching for, ever since he left the city.
Time ticked away. The bed on which the old man lay, started to float away into the mist, back to the trees from whence it came. All the sunsets he had ever seen flooded into his mind. The wings of countless birds stirred up a breeze through the contents of his skull. A mysterious feeling that was all too familiar to him, warmed his heart to the core.
Not long after, his heart stopped. In the pale light of dusk, one could see a smile and a look of quiet contentment on that face - a look that soothed every soul who set eyes upon it.
