The idea for a graphic score came at a time of great upheaval. An hour of collapse when
empires groaned and with their dying breath engaged in horrendous acts of momentous
mass murder.
Though graphic scores are not unheard of by any margin, following the footsteps of
indeterminacy (in composition and performance) laid by Morton Feldman and John Cage,
this graphic score was created to be performed as musical/sound and dance/somatic
experiences – a ritual of cleansing and regeneration.
At a time when we were being numbed, dumbed down, forced into a permanent state of
hopelessness and despair, it was created with a belief in life and a future – a belief that
a better world was indeed possible; a world very much within our grasp and our making.
